Oh the Irony - New Guidelines for Questionable Products

Here's a screen shot of the cached text of YSM blog post entitled "New Guidelines for Questionable Products".

No idea how long that link has been there, I just noticed a few days ago. I notice YSM uses Wordpress - did that link make it in via a vulnerability of some kind?

If the YSM blog can't clean up there act I may have to pull them off my paid search resources list;-)

I assume this was a joke (SES NY)

"Search Relationship Organization (new concept?)– contact competitors to lower bids if you constantly can locate a competitor and hiking up each others bids."

I'm not at SES NY. The above quote is from an article I just read, Creating Compelling Ads at SES NY. I have to assume that was greeted with a little laughter when presented. I mean really, does anyone think that's a good idea or productive use of anyone's time? As a theory I could see how that would sound ok...that is until you thought about it and the potential implications for more than a minute. There are SO many reasons why that's a bad idea I don't see how anyone could suggest it with a straight face.

If anyone's using this strategy with success by all means, please share. There are some solid suggestions in the rest of the post, give it a read. It's worth the time.

Wrapping up 2007

Just wanted to post a quick thanks for reading in 2007 and here's what's coming in 2008 post to wrap up the year. So, thanks:-)

In 2008 a couple things are going to change here. In addition to the normal types of posts you see here there will be an increased focus on paid search programs besides AdWords. AdWords will still get the coverage it deserves as the market leader, but I plan to spend more time writing about other paid search programs like adCenter & Yahoo's Panama.

I also plan on posting more frequently and sharing more paid search info from the various blogs and forums I subscribe to. I received a lot of feedback this year (thank you!) and a common request was more - more original posts with observations and suggestions as well as more "news" as long as it was highly relevant to paid search professionals.

Thanks again for a great 2007 and stay tuned for what should turn out to be an incredible 2008 for the paid search industry.

PPC Discussions is 1

Well, almost 1. I made the first post here 1/6/06.

Thanks to everyone who made the last year fly by. I've never really considered myself to be much of a blogger but have had a blast posting and reading and am looking forward to a lot more of the same during year 2.
