Paid Search Resources: The List
I get asked quite a bit about what paid search blogs, forums and other resources I read/recommend. I decided to put together this list of paid search resources which I will update from time to time. If you know of a resource that's primarily about paid search that I have not included please let me know in the comments and I will add it to the main list.
I would like this list to include frequently updated paid search resources that offer unique insights that will benefit those involved in the paid search community. I am not looking for links to paid search tools, paid search management company websites or sites that are primarily promotional in nature.
Here's the list...

Great list Jeremy. Thanks for the link too.
All but one were on my already read or in my rss subscriptions.
(must start posting again soon).
Hey Dave,
I've found that the paid search blog/forum community is still relatively small compared to the natural search side of the fence. I'm constantly on the look out for new resources but it's not often that I come across any...at least not any that I would recommend. I think I've added 2 to my reader in 2008 vs 20+ natural search resources. In total I have over 200 natural search sites in my reader...and less than 30 paid search sites. I didn't even list all of them in this post as it looks like a few may have been abandoned.
Hopefully some more folks in paid search will step out this year and get in the mix. This post would be a great place to start...wink wink.
Don't be a hater. I have to agree with Jeremy in that very few people on the SEM side actually talk about what they are doing via a public place like a blog. I'll take this list. Thanks.
P.S. Wonder why the SEO guys talk more about their stuff on the blogs?
See also Traffick (www.traffick.com)
I would say that SEO is more transparent overall than PPC. You can do competitor research view the page coding, site interlinking, incoming links, h1 tags, etc. There isn't a lot going on behind the scenes that you can't view when it comes to SEO. PPC on the other hand, sure you can view the ad copy, but are they utilizing DKI? What does their ad group structure, keyword grouping, match types, etc. look like? I think that 'secrecy' is what folks on the PPC side are afraid to share. Its a shame because I think we can all help each other!
Keep the great posts coming. Great list, Jeremy!
@ anonymous - I thought about adding www.traffick.com to the list but it seems that it's not really a dedicated paid search blog and from I can tell doesn't have a paid search category I could link to. Looking at their Feb archive there are posts that have little if anything to do with paid search such as:
Canada, It's Time to Beat London!
(SES Toronto is Coming, Part I)
Google Wins at Trivia, Too
Why Microsoft Will Press On
Interesting SES NY 2008 Session…
Rubel Takes "SEO Shenanigans" to Task
Sergey: I Know You Are, But What am I
Speaking of metadata...
And so on. I'm really trying to limit this list resources that are specific to paid search, or, at least have a dedicated paid search section. The traffick site it great (I subscribe) but I'm not sure it really belongs on a paid search list. I'm open to other opinions though...
@PPC Consultant
Good points. I sometimes think it has to do with money. In paid search you pretty much have to pay to learn anything. In natural search optimization you can learn a lot without spending a thing. Perhaps people are little less hesitant to share since they laid out the $$$ and don't see any benefit to helping anyone else compete in the space?
Just a theory.
Hey Jeremy,
Thanks for inclusion on the list.
There's actually 4 or 5 new blogs I have just added to my RSS.
@ppc consultant - Good points. I would have to say that historically seo was kind of born and grown through forums and blogs etc because of its nature. Obviously as there is no official guidance on the most part, seo knowledge & growth relied upon sharing this way.
Paid search came a lot later with a little more support in terms of best practices etc from the search engines, but I agree - there's plenty of room for more discussion and sharing of basic and advanced paid search strategies and tactics.
Keep up the good work guys.
It is a pity that the best blog about AdWords in Poland (which is private blog of Google worker Mariusz Gasiewski) is in Polish. He creates really great stuff about Google AdWords and Google Analytics
Thanks for the link, Jeremy!
There's a few there that I don't have - much appreciated...
One more that you may already be aware of: http://www.sitevisibility.co.uk/blog/ can be interesting...
Thanks for the recommendation Steve, I added them to the list.
@ anonymous,
I've seen a few sites/blogs from Mariusz Gasiewski. It's too bad Google can't translate Polish to English yet, I would really like to be able to read his stuff.
Jeremy, you rock! Thanks for the links. :) -James
Jeremy,
I'm glad you commented and left your link on my blog.
You might want to add www.clickequations.com/blog to your list too :-)
-Alex
